Vlottenburg fundraising event strengthens community ties

The VisionV Aftercare facility and Vlottenburg primary school got together at the start of May to hold a collaborative community fundraising morning.

The event started with a five kilometre fun walk from BP Longlands petrol station to Bonfoi farm. Participants then moved on to the school, where the children enjoyed activities such as jumping on the bouncy castles and their parents participated in various games and watched a five-aside football tournament.

For the final match of the tournament, the Aftercare parents and other members of the community challenged the facilitators, teachers and interns to a game, which they subsequently won 3-2.

Although it was a money-raising event, the day also fulfilled a key aim of strengthening relations between members of the VisionV Aftercare facility, the primary school and the wider community.
