VisionV aftercare learners put on winter holiday performing arts event

Vision Vlottenburg’s aftercare winter holiday programme culminated in a public performance of stories, poems and dance routines.

The two-week initiative, which was hosted by Vlottenburg’s primary school, offered learners from Grade R to Grade 3 a range of fun-filled activities comprising arts and crafts, ‘bak en brou’ (‘bake and brew’), drama and boeresports such as sack and egg-and-spoon races. Each activity in turn was enjoyed by each group of learners for up to half an hour every day.

The aim was to ensure they were kept busy with fun but educational pastimes that kept them out of trouble and off the streets.

The students were picked up and transported safely to and from their homes on a daily basis. During the day, they prepared themselves a snack in the ‘bak en brou’ area and also received a nutritious meal. At the end of the two weeks, members of the local community were invited to support the learners by watching them perform what they had practiced and learned.
