Vision Afrika got together with the University of Stellenbosch to put on a holiday programme for learners in order to keep them motivated and entertained during the winter break. The initiative, which took place at the youth development organisation’s centre in Kayamandi, lasted for a week in early July. Aimed at students in Grades 8 to 10, it was set up and run by a number of international students from the University. Each session lasted for about three hours and around 30-45 learners attended every morning. They were divided into five groups, which each took their turn in participating in all of the activities on offer on a rotating basis. Such activities ranged from dancing and story-telling to learning how to use computers and to master a diverse range of arts and crafts, before ending the morning with lunch. To see what the learners got up to, check out our YouTube video here [http://youtube.com/watch?v=OMAHNYKOXlc] or visit our Facebook page here [https://www.facebook.com/VisionAfriKa]. The holiday programme came to a close on Wednesday, 9 July with a big celebration in which the Vision AfriKa learners and university students worked together to put on a fantastic talent show with lots of singing and dancing in only three days.
