Vision AfriKa nursery school learners bake scones to boost maths skills

Vision AfriKa’s nursery school learners were taught how to bake scones at the start of September in order to help improve their maths skills while having fun at the same time.

The children were divided into groups and used mathematical skills such as counting and measuring when weighing and sorting the ingredients. After mixing them, they also learned the names of the different shapes into which the scones were cut.

The activity helped to boost the learners’ confidence by encouraging them to take pride in what they were doing, and they were delighted to share their baked goods with their parents on coming to pick them up.
