Meet Team Vision AfriKa
Nicolle joined Vision AfriKa in 2016. She grew up in Vlottenburg, obtained a National Diploma in Educare at Boland College and is currently completing her second year B.Ed.
Reading Eggs Facilitator
Joan joined Vision AfriKa in 2011 as a volunteer because she loves to work with children. She is now a reading eggs facilitator. Besides taking care of her children, reading and cooking are her passions.
Auxiliary Social Worker
Karen started at Vision AfriKa in November 2012. She is from Vlottenburg and her hobbies include reading, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones. One day she hopes to be a child psychologist.
Thobeka joined Vision AfriKa in July 2016 as a chef. She loves going to church and listening to gospel music as well as exploring her environment during her free time.
Mariette joined Vision AfriKa in 2016. She grew up in Paarl - a town close to Stellenbosch. She is passionate about reading and she loves working with children.
Nomahlubi joined Vision AfriKa in 2012. She grew up in Tsomo, a small town in the Eastern Cape. She loves children.
Neil started at Vision AfriKa in October 2011. He is the branch manager of the Vlottenburg programmes, and studied sports and marketing at Boland College and he coaches a soccer club in Vlottenburg.
Grade 3 Teacher
Marelize was born in Kokstad but grew up in Wellington where she still lives. She's been a teacher since 2004, and loves reading and cooking, baking and spending time with her family, which includes 2 kids of her own.
Liaison Officer & Programme Manager
Nomahlubi joined Vision AfriKa in 2009 as a receptionist, and currently works as the Liaison officer and Programme manager. She loves going to church, watching movies and listening to music.
Jennie van Jaarsveld
Grade 2 Teacher
Jennie joined the team in January 2016 after relocating from Limpopo. She is the Grade 2 educator at Vision AfriKa Primary. She resides on a farm outside Stellenbosch and enjoys the tranquillity of nature.
Nosipho joined Vision AfriKa in January 2016. She is an aftercare facilitator, and in her free time she likes to go to the prayer groups and to watch television - preferably National Geographic documentaries.
John Gidion Kwabasile
John grew up in Engcobo, Eastern Cape. He has been looking after our facility since 2011, making sure it always looks at its best. He loves children and spending time with his family.
Nomatshawe loves working with children. She studied ECD at Boland College and she joined Vision AfriKa as aftercare facilitator in January 2012. Nomatshawe loves books, cooking and travelling.
Grade R Assistant
Bongeka joined Vision AfriKa in 2015 as a volunteer. She Grew up in Engcobo, Eastern Cape, and completed Level 5 ECD at Boland College. She likes reading and watching TV.
Gerrit joined Vision AfriKa in 2005 as the first full-time staff member. Gerrit also is the resident pastoral psychologist and he serves as consultant to other NGOs setting up and managing projects in Kayamandi.
Nosiphelo joined Vision AfriKa in April 2014. She has a national diploma in accounting and is responsible for all financial management at Vision AfriKa. Nosiphelo is very sportive and she easily gets lost in a good book or movie.
Akhona started working as an assistant teacher in January 2011. She is originally from Matatiel in the Drakensberg mountains, and she studied ECD at Boland College. Akhona likes to cook, bake and watch cricket.
Martha joined Vision AfriKa as in intern in 2012. She grew up in Cumakala, Eastern Cape and completed and ECD Level 5 at Boland College. She loves music and reading.
Thandeka grew up and lives in Kayamandi. She studied Office Management and Technology at the Cape Peninsula University and Technology (CPUT), and she joined Vision AfriKa in 2012 as an intern.
Samkela is a Vision AfriKa alumnus who started working as grade 9 co-ordinator in 2014. He studied marketing management at Boland College and he's actively involved with community development in Kayamandi.
Nosibhozo Olivia Mhlawuli
Olivia joined Vision AfriKa as a volunteer in 2014 before being employed in 2016 as an assistant crèche teacher. She loves working with children. After work she likes listening to music and dancing.
Receptionist & Liaison Officer
Xoliswa joined Vision AfriKa in 2008 as facilitator and currently works as receptionist. Her hobbies include watching TV, listening to music, reading and she loves to tell stories.
Grade R Teacher
Noziphiwo joined Vision AfriKa in November 2009 as an aftercare facilitator and currently works as the ECD Grade R teacher. Her hobbies are reading and cooking and she loves expanding her knowledge.
Nomzanmo joined vision AfriKa as aftercare facilitator in February 2011. She studied ECD at Boland College and she loves singing and playing netball.
IIse joined Vision AfriKa in 2016 after working in the hospitality industry for 10 years. She has been passionate about educating children from an early age.
Rochelle joined Vision AfriKa in 2016. She lives in Vlottenburg and has studied ECD at Boland College. Her hobbies watching TV, playing with her kids, reading and enjoying life.
Thandi joined us as a volunteer in 2013. In 2014 she first became a crèche assistant and then Grade 2 assistant. She likes to watch gospel programmes and enjoys family time.
Nasiphi joined Vision AfriKa in 2016. She is originally from Idutywa, Eastern Cape and she's currently studying Early Child Development at Boland College. She has a passion for children and likes music and watching TV.
Principal & Grade 1 Teacher
Sarita joined Vision AfriKa Primary School in January 2015 as a Grade 1 class teacher. Nowadays she is the principal of the Primary School as well as the crèche. Sarita has two grown-up daughters. She loves to cook.
Lumka has worked as an aftercare facilitator since the beginning of 2011. She studied ECD and basic ambulance assistance at Boland College. In her free time she loves to play sports and listen to music.
Nangamiso was born and grew up in Engcobo, Eastern Cape. Her hobbies & Interests include cooking, reading, spending time with her family and going to church.
Grade 1 Assistant
Nondi joined us in 2011 as an aftercare volunteer. She studied office management and technology at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and ECD at Boland College. Nondi loves sports, movies and reading.
Zukisa joined Vision AfriKa in the beginning of 2012. He currently facilitates the grade 8 and 10 programmes in Kayamandi. He is a local resident here in Kayamandi and is passionate about working with children and youth.
